I had to replace the wall transformer with a Radio Shack substitute. I recently made the same kind of purchase. BTW, here is a memorial to, founder of Cambridge SoundWorks (and many other fine accomplishments). With 2 sats., and this is a great system for the bedroom. There is a used PCWorks on ebay at $1.00. So for $30 & S/H, you could get the adapter and a new satellite. You'll need to determine if this system's adapter and satellites are the same as yours. They are selling a 3-piece PCWorks (sub w/2 sats.) for $30 & S/H (search on PCWorks).

BTW, CSW sells their refurbished (or 'B') stock on e-bay. You need to drive at least 24 watts (saw that in a review of the FP1600). Anyhoo, I agree it is very likely that you need the 1.5 amp adapter. Have got to learn to slow down my reading. Missed the part about the adapter being 12V. Or 80 If you're in the SF Bay Area or the Greater Boston area, you could also seek out a store for assistance. You could probably find a generic power adapter that would do the trick, or you could try contacting CSW directly for a replacement part (Though the FPS2000 was discontinued early last year, they may not be available). If you're able to get the sub working you would have a pretty nice 2.1 setup. The four speakers in the FPS2000 are identical. Originally posted by Chimera: Aren't the 4 speakers the same? I googled around about them, but the only reference I have is the Compaq part number - I found a coupla cases of an owner exclaiming their greatness, but nothing else. I really like the way they sound, but not having much experience with such things and knowing they were bundled with a cheap computer, doubt they're very high quality. Bulgish design with the bottom coupla inches of each speaker being a mini subwoofer.

Is there a chance of this being fixable as a system, would it be worth using without the front right speaker, and are any of the parts useful for anything?Ĭan I / would I want to hook up any of the speakers / subwoofer to anything else? Right now I'm running off a 11' tall pair of JBL Pro speakers that came with some Compaq. That adaptor, however, provides.7 or.8 amps as opposed to the 1.5 listed on the Cambridge one - so I don't know if the subwoofer is really busted. I tried plugging in the subwoofer in with another 12 volt adaptor, but it wouldn't turn on. Power adaptor wire broken into orangeish wire near end of the cable too. Orangeish wires poking out of the back of the speaker. Cable off one speaker is broken at the speaker itself, i.e. Has these problems: #1.įront right speaker is missing. POS, sure, but I'd like to scramble any use out of it I can.

I picked up a Cambridge Soundworks PCworks four-points surround system at a garage sale awhile back for something like $5 when I knew even less about anything then I do now. FourPointSurround FPS2000 Digital consists. The other 2 speaker the MicroWorks and SoundWorks were only 2 speaker.
